Tips and Techniques

blog

If you love the look of corrugated letters then here is a cool technique.
Cut your letters out on the cricut.
Run them through a crimper
Ink the edges and place them on your Page.

I didn't have another piece of Crate Paper die cut and I was doing a 2 page layout. So I traced the die cut paper from the first page onto a pink Basic Grey patterned paper. Then I stamped pink lines into the pencil line image. Then I outlined the die cut shape with green paint. It looks almost the same as the Crate Paper die cut sheet. The image to the left is the stamped and painted paper and the image to the right is the first layout I did with the actual die cut paper.

This is a paper saving technique. I used Basic Grey cupcake paper for these pages. I usually buy 2 sheets of background sheets and 1 or two bold patterns for a two page layout. You can see how I used a big piece of the patterned paper on the left page. That left me with two small pieces for page 2. I cut them down to match page 1, leaving empty space where my pictures would be.

To make this layout I used
2 sheets Basic Grey frosting
1 sheet Basic Grey invitation
Die cuts with a view cream Cardstock
Basic grey chipboard Piper, sweets and thickset
ribbon
Fancy pants daily grind die cuts
Junkinz school journaling book
Reminisce sticker
October Afternoon school stamps
Bazzil big brad
Liquid pearls yellow
Grey zig chalk writer
Prima say it in Crystals
Sewing machine

On the finished pages below it looks like I used 2 pieces of the patterned paper whereas I only used 1.

This is something that was discussed at the Scrap-A-Ganza weekend. I thought it was a great idea. Use your scraps after a layout and make some matching cards. All your matching inks and leftover embellishments are already out for you. I used the scraps from my two pages to make a couple of cards. I find myself running out of cards all the time. This way I get 1 or 2 cards after every layout I complete.
